What are the Ingredients for Fusion Body Art Pearl Colours?
Fusion Body Art has two different sets of ingredients for their pearl colors, one for the Pearl metallic Silver and one for the rest.
- For the Pearl Colors (except silver), the ingredients are: Calcium Carbonate, Acacia Senegal Gum, Paraffin, Petrolatum, Glycerin, Stearyl Alcohol, Sodium Benzoate, Dextrin, Water (Aqua), Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, may contain: +/- Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Mica (CI 77019), D&C Red 6 (CI 15850:2), FD&C Blue1 (CI 42090:1), D&C Red 7 (CI 15850:1), Manganese violet (CI 77742), D&C Yellow 6 (CI 15985:1), D&C Green 5 (CI 61570), D&C Yellow 10 (CI 47005:1), Zinc Oxide (CI 77947), Bismuth Oxychloride (CI 77163). - For the Pearl Metallic Silver the ingredients are:Calcium Carbonate, Acacia Senegal Gum, Glycerin, Polyvinylpyrrolidone, PEG-32, Water (Aqua), may contain: +/- Iron Oxides (1332-37-2)(CI77491), Titanium Dioxide (CI77891), FD&C Yellow 5 (CI19140), FD&C Red 7 (CI15850), Mica (CI77019), Aluminum Powder (CI77000). Conforms to (EC) No. 1223/2009. FDA and EU Compliant.
In general all pearl colors are very similar with the exception of the silver and gold that tend to be a bit harder in the cake which makes them better for line work than the rest of the pearl colors, which are softer and hence better for base work.
What is the Overall Consistency of Fusion Body Art Pearl Face Paints?
Although the consistency of the face paint while in the cake can vary by colour and by how long it has been opened for, or how often it has been used or been in storage for, in general Fusion Body Art Pearl colours tend to have a soft clay like consistency. During the winter months, because the air is dry and heaters are on, they can tend to dry out a bit and become less pliable. Once humidity level rise and you start using your face paints they will go back to being softer again. Below is a little video we made to show you what the consistency of most Fusion Body Art Pearl face paints colours are like when they are fresh out of the factory. We have done this just for the purpose of this blog, we don’t suggest doing this at home since we always suggest keeping your face paints in their original container and to never touch them with your bare hands to avoid the spread of germs.
What are Fusion Body Art Pearl Colours Best For?
Some Fusion Body Art Pearl face painting colours are great for line work and some are best for base work and this is why:
- Fusion Pearl Silver and Pearl Gold have a harder consistency which in turns creates crisper looking brush strokes, also, their pigments are more opaque which allow you to get good coverage even when using a brush.
- The rest of the Fusion Body Art pearl face paints are better designed for base work given their overall consistency and the pigments used. Some of the pearlescent pigments work better, opacity wise, with a sponge than with a brush, and, at the same time, their consistency does not always provide you with crisp looking brush strokes. They are really designed to be sponged on, that is how you get the full pearl and metallic like effect, and their super soft and creamy consistency makes them very easy to wear since they feel very light on the skin.
How to Activate Fusion Body Art Pearl Face Painting Colours?
To activate Fusion Body Art Pearl face paints all you need is some water. The First step is to dip the tip of your face painting brush or sponge in the water and wipe any excess water against the edge of your water container to reduce the chances of any potential paint dripping off your brush or sponge after loading. Once you have the right amount of water on your brush or sponge you can start to rub the brush or sponge against the surface of the face paint cake, going back and forward or using a circular motion until you get a nice creamy consistency. That is all there is to it! Your face paint has been activated and now we need to start painting.
Useful Tip: don’t spray water directly onto your makeup cake using a spray bottle, it is always best to use a wet brush or sponge to activate your face paints instead. Spraying water directly on your cakes can cause them to be over saturated with water and make them too soft to work with.
How to Remove or Wash Off Fusion Body Art Pearl Face Paints?
Washing off Fusion Body Art Pearl face paints is easy, all you need is regular soap and water. Start by getting a nice and soft sponge or cloth slightly moistened and add some soap to it. It can be liquid hand or body soap or just soap from a regular bar of soap made for the skin (do not use soaps not intended for skin contact like dish soap or laundry soap). Now, start rubbing off the face paint very gently. The main goal right now is to lift all the pigments off the skin so you should not need to rub very hard at all. Once you are done with that you can go ahead and rinse the face paint with warm water over the sink. Always do the soap part first and then the rinse, otherwise, you might end up with some temporary stains, but nothing that can’t be washed off. You can repeat the steps above twice, always making sure to be gentle so that you don’t hurt the skin or create a rash.
Important Note: different kinds of skin types can react differently to different colours, some skin types might get slightly stained by pinks, while others might do it with greens, etc. It is also worth noticing that different sections of your body will react differently, stain wise. The areas of your skin that are slightly dryer, like your hands, will tend to stain more than the areas that are usually a bit greasier (like the forehead). Also, your fingertips can stain a lot easier than most parts of your body.
If after washing your skin twice with soap and water you still have some faint stains, try applying some lotion or baby oil on the stained area and let it rest for a few minutes. Then, go ahead and remove the lotion or oil with some soap and water. If even then you still have some faint stains left, don’t worry, just wait until the next day since natural sweating and skin shedding will most likely take care of that for you.
It is worth mentioning that we have spent a long time researching pigments and base ingredients to make sure that their face paints are less likely to stain when compared to other brands of face paints available on the market. Still, please remember that no brand can guarantee a stain free experience since it not only depends on the pigments used by them but also on the skin type and area of the skin of the person being painted and the removal process, as explained above.
Fusion Body Art Pearl Face Paints – Colours Review
Now that we have covered the basics of all of Fusion Body Art Pearl Colours, let’s review each one of them.
What do Fusion Body Art Pearl Purple and Pink Shades Look Like?
Fusion Body Art has a great range of pearl purple and pinks, as you can see in the image below.
Since pearl colors are not fully appreciated unless you see how they react to light, we have included a short video so that you can see how they change when the light reflects on them.
Fusion Body Art Pearl Purple Magic is truly magical as its name indicates! When the light reflects on it, you will see shades of blue and pinks come up, making it one of the most amazing colours in the Fusion Body Art Pearl range. This is a beautiful colour to sponge as a background for butterflies, princess crowns, fairy wings and more. If you sponge it very lightly you can get a soft looking coverage, almost translucent if you want to. If you sponge it firmly, then you can get a nice and opaque coverage. The strokes above were done using a flat brush, which also works fairly well, although a sponge is preferred for this colour.
Fusion Body Art Pearl Magenta Dreams is another magical colour in the Fusion Pearl range. Magenta Dreams has purple reflections once the light hits it. It is a beautiful shade to paint outstanding butterfly wings, flower inspired designs, fairy wings and a lot more. Use it with a sponge for a bold look or with a filbert brush over the eye lids for a soft eye shadow like look.
Fusion Body Art Pearl Princess Pink is one of the softest pearl pinks out there, yet it is still pigmented so that it shows up on your skin. It really is the perfect combination of boldness and softness to get a gentle pearly look that will look beautiful as blush, or as a soft background for butterflies, fairies, princesses or even pink kitties or bunnies!
As you can see in the image above, all three colours washed off well. In this case we did one wash with soap and water as indicated earlier on our post, then we added some lotion to the skin, let the lotion do its magic, and then did a second wash. The image shows the results of that second wash, where it is clear that no stains were left. The washing process only took 2 minutes in total.
What do Fusion Body Art Pearl Green and Blue Shades Look Like?
Fusion worked to develop an amazing range of pearl green and blue shades that are really enchanting. Let us take a look at them before we go over each particular shade.

Fusion Body Art Pearl Mermaid Green is a deep and pearly shade of green that will make you want to jump up and down with joy! It provides an amazing coverage and shimmery look, and of course, it is the perfect green to paint a mermaid tail, but it is also perfect for dragons, lizards and monsters. This is a very pigmented colour and it is possible to do line work with it if you wish to. Add some pearl Fairy White to it to make it lighter, or mix it with some yellow to get a different shade.
Fusion Body Art Pearl Mint Green is one of our favorite pearl greens out there. It has a magical shimmery look and it has some hints of gold when the light hits it. It is one of the best colours to use as a background for a fairy garden or a spring garden inspired design. It is a very soft and gentle colour, so it will look great on little ones since softer colours look better on younger children in general. You can shade it with some Pearl Mermaid Green to create some depth.
Fusion Body Art Ocean Mist is a beautiful shade of light pearly teal and it is ideal for water and frozen winter inspired face painting designs. The color is bright, opaque and very pearly. It will stand out on all skin tones and boys and girls will both love it! This is not a shade you will want to miss having in your kit. Combine it with other shades of blue or greens, or even with purples and pinks, it really blends well with almost any shade within the pearl range.
Fusion Body Art Pearl Winter Blue is a rich and bright medium blue. This shade was designed to be as versatile as possible. You can use Pearl Winter blue to face paint winter inspired designs, super hero masks with a shimmery twist, blue dragons and a lot more. It is also amazing as a base colour for butterfly wings. These are, currently, the last shades within the Fusion Body Art pearl range. Below is a picture of the colours on the skin and in the cake, as well as a video so that you can see how they react when they are exposed to the light.
Fusion Body Art Pearl Metallic Gold is one of the best gold face paints currently available. It has a true gold look (rather than a yellow or greenish gold look) and it has a very metallic finish to it. Because of its specially developed consistency, it is not only good for base work with a sponge, but it can also be used for line work with a round face painting brush. Use this metallic gold face paint to recreate your favorite superhero characters, gold statues, paint gold coins during Saint Patrick’s Day and more!
Fusion Body Art Pearl Juicy Orange has the perfect name because it is indeed very juicy looking! Our Pearl Juicy Orange is very pigmented and bright, and it offers a great shimmer look. There is likely no better shade for your tigers, fall and Thanksgiving Day inspired designs than our Fusion Pearl Juicy Orange. Also, mix it with some red to create amazing looking dragons. Now, let us talk about a colour that every face painter is always looking for, silver! As you have come to find out most silver face paints tend to be translucent, or not very metallic at all. Fusion Body Art worked for months to develop the perfect Silver, one that was opaque and metallic looking but that would not flake off right away.
